Health insurance

International mobility is constantly increasing. The number of Swiss Abroad is also rising continuously. But those leaving Switzerland to settle abroad long-term need to be aware of a number of health-insurance related issues.

If you move to a foreign country, you cannot normally continue with your Swiss health insurance. That means that you must either take out insurance in your new country of residence or – if such insurance is not available – conclude a private health insurance policy.

There are numerous exceptions to this principle, depending on the nature of the stay abroad and on the chosen country of residence.
