The Swiss in Germany

Living abroad

The Organisation of the Swiss Abroad in Germany is the umbrella organisation of currently 40 Swiss associations and business clubs in Germany, where around 96,000 Swiss nationals live, 41,000 of whom do not hold another passport.

Germany has been the country with the most Swiss Abroad for years - after France - because of its language, proximity to Switzerland and good working and living conditions. Many pensioners are also drawn to Germany because of the lower cost of living, and the trend is rising. On 10-11 May 2024, the usually annual conference of the German Swiss associations will take place in Lübeck.
