Alexia Colamonico, Swiss Abroad from Italy, completed a bachelor’s degree in international relations at the University of St. Gallen and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in economics at the University of Zurich. Alongside her studies, she works at a bank to further advance her professional goals.
Every year, many young Swiss people from around the world choose to move to Switzerland for their education. While there are no official statistics, the staff of educationsuisse meet many young Swiss Abroad each year who take this step, driven by the desire to grow personally and actively shape their future.
Good preparation is essential to making education or training in Switzerland a success. educationsuisse offers free information and personalised advice on education and training in Switzerland.
- Information relating to different educational options such as university studies or vocational training
- Information relating to specific questions regarding admission requirements, required language skills, deadlines, accommodation, scholarships, insurances, etc.
- Individual counselling onsite in Berne or online
- Vocational and study counselling in cooperation with a professional career counselling provider (fee-based)
- Assistance in applying for cantonal scholarships and administrative support
- Financial help (grants/loans) from educationsuisse and private foundations

Paulo Wirz, Swiss Abroad from Brazil, studied art at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) and in Geneva at the Haute école d’art et de design (HEAD). In 2021, he was a recipient of the Swiss Art Award, awarded by the Federal Office of Culture.
The educationsuisse staff speak English, German, French, Italian and Spanish. They will be glad to help and answer questions via email, telephone, online or onsite in Berne. Our counselling services are supported by a contribution from the Federal Office of Culture (Federal Department of Home Affairs).
educationsuisse is the umbrella organisation of the 17 Swiss schools abroad recognised by the federal government. educationsuisse advises and supports both young Swiss Abroad and students from Swiss Schools abroad, who wish to pursue their education or training in Switzerland.
