Open House at the Federal Palace
On 1 August 2026, the Federal Palace in Bern opens its doors to everyone. Explore the council chambers, experience National Day at the heart of Swiss democracy – a special moment for all Swiss people around the world.
On Swiss National Day, 1 August 2026, the Federal Palace in Bern invites the public to an open house event. From 08:30 to 16:30, the National Council chamber, the Council of States chamber, the domed hall and lobby, as well as the Federal Council chamber will be freely accessible, with no registration required and no admission fee.
For many Swiss Abroad, a visit to the Federal Palace is a rare experience. If you are currently in Switzerland or planning a trip home, don't miss this date: National Council President Pierre-André Page and Council of States President Stefan Engler will personally take questions from the public, in German, French and Italian. Guided tours of the council chambers, folk music from the canton of Fribourg and further activities will round off the day's celebrations.

Entry is via the visitor entrance and the North entrance until 15:30. People aged 16 and over, as well as children and young people under 16 who are not accompanied by an adult, will be subject to an identity check and must present official identification to security staff.
