Federal votes

The proposals submitted to the people are set by the Federal Council at least four months prior to the voting date.

The Federal Council decided at its session on 21 May 2025 to submit the following proposals to the people on 28 September 2025:

• Federal Decree of 20 December 2024 on Cantonal Property Taxes on Second Residences (BBl 2025 17)
• Federal Act of 20 December 2024 on Electronic Identity Credentials and Other Electronic Credentials (e-ID Act, eIDA) (BBl 2025 20)

All information on proposals submitted to the people (voting pamphlets, committees, recommendations by the parliament, Federal Council etc.) can be found at www.admin.ch/abstimmungen or in the Federal Chancellery app “VoteInfo”.

Popular initiatives

The following federal popular initiatives had been launched at the time of going to press (deadline for signatures in brackets):

• Federal Popular Initiative “For politics in the interest of the people: no lobbying” (25 September 2026)
• Federal Popular Initiative “For a strong society and economy thanks to parental leave (Family Leave Initiative)” (1 October 2026)
• Federal Popular Initiative “For solar installations exempt from planning permission” (8 October 2026)
