Successful 1st Congress of Young Swiss Abroad

For the first time, young Swiss Abroad came together online. In discussions about education, work, politics and culture in Switzerland, the young people were able to contribute their opinions and help shape the future.

In cooperation with YPSA (Youth Parliament of Swiss Abroad), the Organisation of the Swiss Abroad (OSA), SwissCommunity, successfully ran the first online congress. This international meeting via Zoom enabled the young Swiss Abroad to stay connected with their home country and with each other.

At the congress, the young people were provided with an insight into direct democracy in Switzerland, presented by Easyvote, and were able to exchange views on political participation. Filippo Lombardi, OSA Vice-President, also spoke about the importance of young people's involvement, not only in politics but also within the OSA. To this regard, the young people were encouraged in an active discussion to contribute their expectations of the OSA.

With educationsuisse, the participants also gained an overview of various pathways to education in Switzerland. Practical tips on the world of business and how to write a CV were provided by Junior Entreprise Genève.

Finally, the congress also featured music and fun: with a live stream of the family band "Oesch's die Dritten", the young Swiss Abroad enjoyed typical Swiss music and could even learn how to yodel.

Thanks to the participants - it was so much fun! SwissCommunity is looking forward to future events and to see many faces again!
