What is it like for you being connected to more than one country?
Being connected to more than one country is a real asset. I am grateful to be able to live with knowledge of several cultures, histories, and politics. For me, being connected to more than one country is a way to see the world from different points of view, influenced by each country. Growing up in the south of France and Jura, I carry with me a mixture of landscapes, discoveries, and people who have shaped my identity as it is now.
If your friends asked you to make them a typical Swiss meal, what would you cook?
I would probably make raclette, as it is convivial and brings people together!
Do you maintain personal contacts with other Swiss Abroad?
As part of the YPSA, the Youth Parliament of Swiss Abroad, I have many opportunities to connect with young Swiss people from all over the world, which helps me stay in touch with Switzerland and current events.
Has your attitude to Swiss traditions changed since you emigrated?
Ironically, since I have been living in an international boarding school in Costa Rica, I find myself questioning Swiss traditions more, trying to discover them in greater depth. By spending time with other Swiss people in my everyday life, I really have the opportunity to question traditions but also to actively participate in them.
