Summer 2023 continues – but an unseasonable ski hat features in the top story of our latest edition of “Swiss Review”. This hat has become a real retro cult item in recent months. Credit Suisse forerunner SKA gave away 800,000 of these blue, red and white accessories back in the 1970s. The hats were more striking than aesthetically appealing. But everyone wanted one. And it was a marketing coup for SKA. Fast-forward five decades, and we all know how the story ends: global giant Credit Suisse is no more. The ski hat has since been changing hands at online auctions for almost 300 times the value of one extremely cut-price CS share. A woolly hat of scratchy acrylic has become a tangible reminder of the erstwhile banking juggernaut.
