Something special about me

Over the years, my family made frequent trips to Switzerland. After an absence of 35 years from Switzerland and following
early retirement my wife and I returned to Switzerland for, what we had planned to be one year, but remained for 6 years. We just could not leave as we thoroughly enjoyed the culture, lifestyle and nature. We reluctantly returned to Canada since our children and grandchildren (9) were there.

Who are you?

Educated in Switzerland as an Electronics Technologist. This was the first time people were educated in this new field. This  later became the new science of Information Technology. Through further studies in Canada I attained the level of engineer. After working for a couple of large computer firms I started my own company, providing IT related services, both in Canada and the USA.

Is there anything in your daily life which links you with

During our 6-year stay in Switzerland, my wife and I discovered Swiss folk music and have enjoyed listening to it ever since. We are now listening to SRF's Musikwelle all day long. Their live streaming service makes this possible.

Does your home have a Swiss touch? In what way?

We are displaying a number of prints depicting traditional Swiss
scenes in our home. We had fallen in love with hand painted Swiss ceramics and have a number of them

What is your favourite Swiss dish?

It is impossible to narrow the choice to just one dish. Roesti, Zuercher Geschnetzeltes and Fondue are among my most favourite Swiss dishes.

Do you return to Switzerland regularly?

We visited annually while the children were growing up. Have not been back since our return from the 6-year stay, but are planning to return for a 2-month vacation this year.

What feature of your country of residence would you
like to take back with you to Switzerland?

This would manly consist of memories, such as some of the
beautiful scenery of the Canadian landscape.
