Zug: Culture

The canton of Zug has a diverse cultural life. Old traditions are just as important as contemporary art. If you travel to the City of Zug late in the evening by train, for example, you’ll discover the light installation by American artist James Turrell. His lighting design has the station hall and its glass facade under a fairy-tale enchantment at night.

Zug is rich in history. A testament to this is Zug’s antique quarter with Zug Castle, the Zytturm clock tower and the Town Hall, which was built in the late Gothic style. A wide range of museums – from the Fisheries Museum of the Art House to the Mission Museum – offer exciting exhibitions. Theatres, cinemas and concert venues for amateur productions and professional events complete the choice of attractions. Both the young and the young at heart often meet in one of the many cafes, clubs or bars. Alternatively, cultural and social life is also to be found in Zug’s many associations and societies.
