Lucerne: Economy

The economic area of Lucerne is growing steadily, thus making it an increasingly international place. There are many reasons why Lucerne is rapidly becoming a desirable location for enterprises and entrepreneurs: it is close to the motorway leading to Zurich, which has new feed roads from Buchrain and Rothenburg, it has several newly established international schools. As of 2012, it will have the lowest corporate tax rate in all of Switzerland. In 2010 alone, over 1,200 large and small enterprises opted for a Lucerne location. By the end of September 2011, another 1,200 were already added to that list. The Canton of Lucerne has an above-average number of enterprises in the health services, machine and construction industries.
