Valais: Education
Although the Canton has no traditional university of its own, the possibility of pursuing higher education does exist. Thus the Valais boasts the “Haute Ecole Spécialisée de Suisse occidentale”, in Sierre and Sion, which is classed as a university of applied science. The Distance-Learning Centre for French-Speaking Switzerland, based in Sierre, also makes it possible to follow university courses by correspondence.
