The life of a canton can also be expressed in figures, percentages, kilograms, population statistics or any other unit of measurement. These serve to monitor its development at various levels. Thus the Canton of Neuchâtel publishes the statistics for its six constituent regions under more than 19 main headings.

  • 9.6% of the Canton’s total energy consumption is supplied from renewable sources.
  • 39.4 TeraJoules was the figure for the Canton’s biogas consumption in 2008.
  • 2'505 is the number of beds available to tourists in the Canton’s 72 tourist accommodation facilities (as at 2008)..

 

The figures keep coming

  • 5,918,276 square metres was the total area dedicated to vineyards in the Canton in 2008.
  • 500 tonnes of Sugus sweets were sold in Switzerland in 2007; equalling approximately 700 million individual sweets.
