Jura: Politics

Chancellor Sigismond Jacquod, Head of the Cantonal Administration, took office on 1 October 1991. He urges all the Swiss abroad, especially those who are citizens of the Canton of Jura, to get involved in Swiss political life.

The burning political issue in this bicultural canton is still the "Jura question", with strong opposition remaining to the creation of a single canton merging Jura with Bernese Jura. Still ongoing, the "question" remains sensitive and offers no easy solution.
