Fribourg: Politics

Chancellor Danielle Gagnaux-Morel is head of Fribourg's cantonal administration. She urges all the Swiss abroad, especially those who are citizens of Fribourg, to get involved in Swiss political life. Discussions about e-voting are now on Fribourg's political agenda. In September 2009, the Canton concluded a co-operation agreement with Zurich to introduce e-voting for the citizens of the two cantons abroad. As a result, citizens of Fribourg who are resident abroad will soon be able to cast their votes via Internet. The initial trial stages will take place during the federal elections in autumn 2010, but will be restricted to those voters entered on the electoral roll of Fribourg City. The cantonal government hopes to extend electronic voting to all citizens of Fribourg abroad by 2010.
