The Canton of Berne and the Swiss Abroad

The Swiss abroad from the Canton of Berne will very soon also be able to exercise their voting rights via the Internet. On 23 April 2010, Berne decided to work together with the existing electronic platform of the Canton of Geneva. Around 12,500 Swiss citizens abroad, registered as voters in certain municipalities of the Canton of Berne, will be able to take part in the trial from 2011. The scheme will be extended canton-wide from 2012.
