Kurt Nuspliger, who has headed Berne's cantonal administration as Chancellor since 1985, has worked for the introduction of e-voting in the Canton as one of his official tasks. He invites you, the Swiss abroad, to get involved in the political life of Switzerland. On Friday, 23 April 2010, the Cantons of Berne and Geneva joined the Swiss Confederation in an agreement on joint use of Geneva's existing e-voting platform. It is expected that all Bernese voters resident abroad will be able to cast their votes in federal elections and referenda electronically from 2012. Some municipalities in the Canton will operate e-voting trials for the Swiss abroad during 2011.
