Basel City: Politics

Barbara Schüpbach-Guggenbühl is the State Secretary and head of the Cantonal Administration. She invites you, as Swiss people resident abroad, to take advantage of the possibility of e-voting in this Canton, which makes it easier to participate in political life. The Cantonal Administration was responsible for devising the e-voting project in Basel City, and co-operated closely with the e-voting platform of the Canton of Geneva. Thus, in November 2009, the City of Basel became the first canton to enable its voting citizens who were resident abroad to cast their votes using the e-voting system of another canton.
