Appenzell Ausserrhoden: Education
All the Canton's communities have excellent primary schools. The cantonal schools are in Trogen or Heerbrugg. Then, for higher education, students have a choice between the Universities of St. Gallen or Zurich, the Universities of Applied Science of St. Gallen and Rorschach, the University of Applied Science of Liechtenstein, Buchs Inter-State University of Technology or the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. All these are readily accessible from all the Canton's communities, using the region's efficient public transport network.
The Canton has a wide range of private schools, covering nearly all fields of education.
