Appenzell Innerrhoden: Economy

While boasting a well-developed infrastructure and a high standard of living, the Canton benefits from a rather low cost of living.

Nowadays the cantonal economy is being transformed, with new sectors - and in particular services - overtaking traditional sectors in importance.

To support these new opportunities, the government has drawn up a four-year investment programme (New Regional Policy 2008-2011) for the region's economic development.
